Delta Dolce Vita Oversize Nib Sizes

Recommended Posts

I have several Delta pens. Seven of them are 14K, #6 nibs, and three are Fusion nibs I have found that with all these nibs, their sizing runs closer to Japanese sizes than to, for example, Pelikan M800 nibs (of which I have six). Now, I am planning to purchase a Delta Dolce Vita, Oversize, with a #8 nib. Have people who own this pen found their nib sizes to also run closer to Japanese sizing? If you have a writing sample, posting it would also assist me in my decision on which nib size to order.

Thanks

I only have one Delta and it is the OS with a stub nib and would not have compared it to Japanese widths. It is really wet as well.

jar... Thanks for the reply and photos. Not sure if stubs are a good indicator for comparisons. Stubs and Italics, unlike other size nibs, are ground to a more specific down-stroke size (e.g. 1.1, 1.3, 1.5). I have a Delta #6, 14K stub nib - It is a 1.1 mm. A Stub from any manufacturer, claiming to be a 1.1 mm Stub, will be very similar in down-stroke size.

Thanks

Firstly if anyone could suggest a photo compression app for the iphone i could post photos all day long as im now without my imac

I would say absolutely not in my experience. I have a dolcevita os and stantuffo both with B nibs. Infact alot of my pens are B nibs. I have sailor kop and pilot custom 74 with B nibs and they are way thinner than the western pens. The kop has no line variation and is the equivalent to id say a montblanc 149 M nib but more wet ish.

My dolcevita oversize is slightly less pleasurable to use than the stantuffo as i like the slight tooth that the stantuffo provides. Id say the oversize osnt too far off an omas paragon B nib but not as soft but still it is very bouncy if that makes sense

I have a DV OS, and the #8 nib feels a lot like that of my Pelikan M1000. My pen's nib is springy and is a very wet writer. The line shows no variation and is a "thick" medium, almost to broad, although it is marked Medium. In the case of my pen, however, this could be because the nib has been repaired (damaged when I purchased it) and Binderized (tuned by a disciple of Richard Binder, nibmeister extraordinaire), which usually results in line width being broader than marked size.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
