Duofold Giveaway

Recommended Posts

Hi Parker lovers. I know this is something I should post on the giveaway section but I think the Parker section is more appropriate.

I have a Parker Duofold Pearl and Black from the 80's that needs a better home. It comes with original box and papers. I have been neglecting this pen for a while and it cries for someone that will love it and use it. I want it to find a good home since it belonged to my grandfather. The pen has a M nibs and it is in perfect condition.

If you are someone that has been crazy to own one and for some reason hasn't had the chance to get it, please send me a PM.

I am willing to give the pen for free, just take care of the shipping cost. I live in Mexico City, so take this in consideration. I have several pictures of the pen if you contact me.

Cheers!!

Cardboard_tube got the pen!! I hope he will write wonderful words with it and it brings blessings to him.

I am excited that a pen bought in the US, used in Mexico, inherited by me, has found a home half way around the world!

Thanks to you all Parker fans!!

Hopefully he will pay it forward some day.

I am at a loss for words...

The Parker Duofold was the most stylish pen sold in my hometown. When I was a boy we could only look at them in the glass cases and wonder, and now I need wonder no more!

I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Hector, I am too stunned.

What an amazing story! This is an example of what makes FPN so great. Hector, you have brought honor to your grandfather.

Cardboard_Tube - use the pen in great health. I just returned to the USA from your beautiful country having spent four days in Auckland.

Regards to you both.

John

Hector 67...what a generous thing to do. I have the same pen which I bought back then and it is a beautiful pen. I'm sure your Grandfather would be very happy that another fountain pen lover will be taking great care of it. Congrats to Cardboard_Tube for giving this beautiful pen a new home.

Sadly I have had to decline the offer in the end. I couldn't afford the shipping. I just hope that Hector67 can find someone a bit more deserving as a recipient. And I apologise here for wasting Hector's time.

That's a shame as it sounds like you would have truly appreciated it in your hands.

I am happy to anounce that the Duofold has arrived safely at its new home in the UK. The new owner promissed me a life of care and pampering for the pen.

Thank you all for your kind words and interest.

Best Regards,

Hector

Well, whoever is the mystery recipient I hope they really enjoy it. :)

Sorry for the mystery Cardboard... I decided to give the recipient the freedom to make it public or not. I am happy with the choice I made.

Best regards everyone

First of all, thank you kindly for the giveaway, it is appreciated.

However, please no more giveaways in any other forum than the one specifically created for it, even if you think it is more appropriate. It just isn't.

There was a reason to create a forum especially for this type of things, and we would like to keep it that way. This way, a lot of people are denied the chance to get to know other types of pens, and in addition, we have special appointed moderators in the other forum to deal with possible incidents, just in case.

This topic will be moved to the appropriate forum as a result, even if its course has run, just so you are aware.

Anyway, thanks again for you kind offer, and we hope the recipient is very pleased with his new pen!

Warm regards, Wim

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
