Montblanc Irish Green

This is my most recent green acquisition and I love it. It's a rich colour, and doesn't have too much blue in it. I dislike greens leaning toward too much blue. Of course, my grail green is Caran d'Ache Amazon but sadly that's nowhere to be found anymore...

The water resistance is a nice surprise.

Comparison

Greens compared: Akkerman #28, Sailor Bung Box Happiness, R&K Verdura, Montblanc Irish Green, J. Herbin Lierre sauvage, Iroshizuku Shin-ryoku and R&K Gelbgrün. The last one is a calligraphy pigmented ink, not for use in fountain pens.

Irish Green is one of my favorite greens! Thanks for sharing the review.

Thanks for your review, and the comparisons - always helpful.

Another great quality about Irish Green is that it flushes really easily. Love that in an ink!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

This is my next ink purchase, though Bung Box Happiness looks great there as well. I really like your ink reviews, thank you!

Fabulous review, as always! Thank you so much. I love this colour and it is in a gorgeously marbled blue/ chrome Sheaffer 300 - the flow and colour are simply sublime and I have had no problems with it whatsoever. It is also an incredible companion to MB's Corn Poppy Red. Heaven

Great review.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I agree. Irish Green and Corn Poppy Red, perfect red vs green match.

I used to dislike the color green generally with a passion. One day I just decided to go for MB IG and have been loving the color green, generally, since :D

Great ink!

I love this shade of green, but my main concern in the bottle that Mont Blanc uses. How inconvenient is the shape of the bottle when filling the pen? Or if it is convenient, in what way is it convenient?

This is a lovely color of green. I wonder how it compares to the J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage in it's behavior? I like both of them. Green is my favorite ink color.

I enjoyed a sample and then ordered a bottle. It's a classic.

IMHO not more or less inconvenient than any other bottle... You might need a helping hand for the last bit though...

Great review! Great color. One of my hardrunners...

Many people adore the shoe-style bottles, because they provide a big and a small reservoir, the latter being useful when there is little ink left. What's more, the bottleneck is quite wide. I like it. They are stable and comfortable to use.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
