First Glance- Could It Be A Solitaire?

Hello,

I am thinking of bidding for one allegedly MB Solitaire. Do not know anything about it-whether it is Solitaire 146 or smth. else. Also, do not know whether it is cartridge converter. In fact, I do not know almost anything. The only data I dispose of is the seller's info that on the cap clip ring it's written "cp1058546 germany metal 2". I'm very confused with this "2"- it could be seller's typing mistake.

Nib seems to be 2 tone, 14 K/C....The seller's know even less, because he constantly writes "MEINSTERSTUCK" (note letter "B"). I asked him several questions-about the nib, filling system, date and stamp on the last page of the Service guide, etc.... I am waiting his response, if it happens at all.

At the first glance, pen looks genuine, box and papers (font, colour) too. Snow flake, hm,,,somehow it's peaks look too narrow.. I do not know.

I apologize for the baddest ever size and clarity of the enclosed pictures, but it's impossible to make/enclose them in any bigger/recognizable size.

Please, at your respectable first glance- could it be a Solitaire, and if not - which model it might be, assuming it's authenticity? For this occasion- neglect Pelikan which is near this MB.

Thanks for any reply.

One seems to be a solitaire, too small a picture to see if it's a 146 or not, the other seems to be a pelikan.

Jsolares, thanks!

Yes, pics are too small- I couldn't convert anyhow to a visible size. My apologies! Also, Pelikan isn't "at issue".

Assuming it's 146 (original pics tells me the same)- it should be piston filler, right? Not the converter? I have one 146 Le Grand from early 2000, black resin- it's a piston...

If it appears it's converter, should I give a "pedal to the metal" and run out from this auction (fake fp)?

Gasmist just posted this as a thread entry requesting that ID of the pen. It's a Solitaire based on the section. Not a Legrand/146 size pen. C/C filler.

Hard times don't last, but hard people do.

Thank a Veteran.

Thanks, Niksch!

Yes I saw gasmist's post. Maybe it's a language barrier on my side, he wrote: "Here is the link to the site I am trying to sell it on, it has 10 pictures." and posted local, Bosnian trade web site address...Also, in his profile, there is a Brasilian flag, and statement that he's from Brasil....

My understanding of all of that is that he's a seller, but my conversation at this local site was with a person with a different nickname, living in one town in Bosnia....

Nevertheless, I may be wrong (if so, apologies!!! no hard feelings on my side), but pen clarification is at stake, right?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
