Patching/repairing Surface Cracks

what would you do to patch a surface crack to prevent it from spreading further? the cracked piece in question is on the body of a pelikan 140 (not sure of material) and it is just a surface crack

I'm sorry that I don't have the knowledge or the skills to assist you brewsky. Are you saying that the crack does not extend all the way through the material of the barrel? Would you have a photo that you could post to help visualize what you are describing? I believe the material of the barrel is celluloid. Ron Zorn would normally be the person that I would contact about this issue but he is not taking pens at present though he is active in the repair forum. Perhaps if you post there, you may get some more traction. Good luck with it.

you are spot on. The cracks do not extend all the way through the barrel. at the moment they are merely cosmetic. I dont want to send the pen off, just wondering if anyone has any home remedies for this situation.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
