Maybe this is just me, but I was going through Yahoo answers when I found this answer to a question about ballpoint vs. fountain pens:

"it's just a fancier and less practical pen. ballpoint pens are much better at everything, it writes easier and you don't need a bottle of ink."

Does this bother anyone else as much as it bothers me, especially the "ballpoint pens are much better at everything"???

No, it really doesn't bother me, as it is a personal preference as to whether a person likes a ballpoint or a fountain pen better. The majority of people today would rather have the convenience, cheapness, versatility, and durability of a ballpoint pen rather than the better writing experience that can be found by using a fragile, expensive, and arguably inconvenient fountain pen.

No, it actually doesnt bother me. There are people that will think that cardboard wine is better because it is easier to open.

No.

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

Nope. Less people bidding against me on eBay for pens or putting expensive ideas in my head here.

Perhaps there's a cumulative effect to all the ignorance and stupidity one is exposed to. By itself, though, this isn't much.

I put Yahoo at the top of my black list years ago because of their advertising policies. Anybody willing to put up with such nonsense doesn't warrant any attention from me.

Everything? Well, the blunt end of a free pen is much better at getting wax out of your ears (so I'm told), but maybe if I use a gold nib ...

Not annoyed with the Yahoo answer.

But I am annoyed that GClef can write better with a BP than I can when trying my hardest with an FP. However, I think that's just my jealousy speaking.

Richard.

I find that the only thing Yahoo answsers is good for, is to browse the questions and find really absurd or stupid ones and laugh at them.

I think it may be the same with other all-topic forums, I'm not sure.

Well, honestly, ballpoints are way better for most people. Have you seen what happens when a normal person gets a hold of a FP?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
