Engeika No Pilot

Title pretty much says it all. Was just looking at Engeika site and even though I have a login for it there are no Pilot/Namiki products anywhere to be seen. Does anyone know if this is a temporary thing, or a new direction for the vendor?

I noticed it, too. There are a few things, but they're not in the menus; a search finds some. But not much. Didn't know if it was that they're not dealing with Pilot any more or if they've messed up their website. It's a bummer, as I've gotten a couple of nice Pilot things from them.

Engeika hasn't stocked Pilots for a while now: just Sailor, Platinum, Parker & Wancher. FWIW, I think Pilot's stopped selling to Taizo/Engeika, or the pipeline of intermediaries between them has been closed.

They stopped carrying Pilot a few years back too, then they resumed but only visible after you have logged in.

I think they will resume selling Pilot, it is just a matter of time, in the meanwhile, there are many sellers with similar prices or even lower than Engeika but as of now under the radar of the price watchdogs at Pilot or their dealers in other regions.

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

I wrote them an email because I wanted to try different nibs on a pen. It was just during the switch from visible for members to not visible in the store at all.

They told me their stock on pilot pens is sold out right now, but they would contact me later, if they can get the pens I requested again. They are doing an inventory of their pilot items this moment. The message didn't say if they would just make an inventory of their last pens or if they would restock on them.

Long story short: I don't have any real information about the matter ;-)

I bought a Pilot from them this February and recently checked back and found them all missing...I emailed them and got this reply:

"Hello,

We are very sorry that the Pilot section is now under maintenance

We will put the items of Pilot back soon

Best regards"

So hopefully they are returning!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
