I like this ink. Dusty purple, water-resistent, nice shading. A bit dry though, so it's "like" not "love".

I feel much the same way about this ink. I bought a bottle and tried it out. Haven't tried it again. It's a bit dry, though the color is nice. I may give it another shot someday.

 

It should be pointed out that this is an iron gall ink, which some may care to avoid.

I prefer more vivid colors, and the inexplicable appeal of iron gall inks totally eludes me --I just don't get why people find them so desirable. Oh well.

Thank you for your comparison! Me too I usually prefer more vivid colour. Even the Pearl Violet is not vivid enough for me.

As for the Scabiosa, I had planned to use it until the converter ran out, but it is really too dry for a flex nib so I dumped it out and now filled with other inks.

Solferino is one of my all-time favorites! Smooth and fluid, great color.

I also never really cared for Scabiosa. Too dry and too pale and dusty. But I did love its characteristics; the almost instant drying time, affinity for working well on the crappiest paper.

 

So, after many ink mixing experiments I created this: PBB #3

By mixing together Scabiosa, Salix, and Pelican 4001 Blue-Black, along with a splash of Alt-Goldgrun, I came up with a completely waterproof, medium flowing purple-blue-black ink that dries fairly instantly, plays nice with crappy paper and has cool black violet shading.

I didn't used to find it dry. I guess I've become more picky about inks as my collection grows.

I tried various different ratios of Salix and Scabiosa, and got various different kinds of waterproof Blurble, nice but kinda boring. Adding small amounts Alt-Goldgrun to the mixes made it wetter, toned down the purple, evened things out, and brought back the shading. Unfortunately, larger amounts of A-G also removed the waterproofness and crappy paper handling ability. It was serendipitously adding Pelikan Blue Black that finally created the velvety waterproof purple-blue-black shading ink that I'd been trying for.

 

I definitely recommend getting your hands on Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black, if you're able, to create PPB Mix #3. It's worth the effort.
