Help With Parker Flighter Arrow Nib Replacement

dorothylim

Recommended Posts

I have a Parker Arrow from the 1980s, which has sentimental value as it was one of my very first fountain pens. I would like to know if the nib can be replaced and how or to whom I should go? I live in Singapore, btw. Thanks in advance!

The nibs are a friction fit so should just pull out ... but be warned that old dried ink can prevent this as can shrinkage of the section. Best idea is to clean the pen out and soak it for a night before attempting to pull out the nib.

Not sure where to get nibs from in Singapore but over here in the UK you can still sometimes find them ... for example fine ones from Battersea Pen Home : http://www.penhome.co.uk/parker-95-nib.html

Another idea would be to pick up a secondhand pen from eBay and swap nibs

Hope that helps

I am in the same situation here. I have a pen I believe is a Parker Arrow given to me by my father and holds sentimental value. I have taken to using it again, and this past weekend I picked it up and it dropped onto the floor, bending the nib. I had placed it back in the cap but not clicked it back in so it was secure!

Thanks for the link to Battersea Pen Home, Spicey Mike, but I have a question. Is the Parker 95 and Arrow the same when it comes to nibs? The implication is that they are, but it would help to be sure!

I am amazed at how easy it is to become attached to one's pen.

Thank you.

  • 2 years later...

I have a gold filled Arrow with M nib that I purchased from a local fleamart. Took a bit of work with the nib to write the way it does now. Love the wet medium. When one old shop offered me what was claimed as B nib unit for Parker Arrow I just jumped at it. Turns out it really is meant for Parker 95. After trying it on Arrow's body and cap I find that it fits perfectly. P95 and Arrow nib units are interchangeable. I am yet to use the B nib (P95 - NOS) but I do notice the one meant for P95 is softer than the original M on my Arrow.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
