Iroshizuku - Kosumosu (Cosmos) - CRV - Group Review - 2015-04

The Iroshizuku Group Review color for April 2015 is Kosumosu ”Cosmos”. It is pink, pinker than the scan above is showing, full of life and springtime. It is named after a pretty wildflower, and if you look at the pictures you'll see why.

Please post your reviews and scans of the ink in this thread.
If you want to a partner for a Co-Razy View (CRV) of this ink, please write it up and mail it to Lou Erickson. (PM for the address.) If you want to do a Co-Razy View on your own, please do! Other reviews are welcome, too.
NOTE: I have a new address as of January! If you have sent me things in the past, please PM for the new address - the old one will stop forwarding eventually.
You can look at the full description of the Iroshizuku Group Review to see how this should work and what we’re doing.

Thanks to Rachel Goulet, who gave permission to me to use their beautiful product photo and swab.
More thanks to Amberlea who gives so much of her time to herding these inky kittens.
Please PM me with any questions. I was not expecting this ink to be quite this pink, but it's a very attractive color and is definitely springlike.

My scanner's been hijacked by the Giant Eight Billion Family Slides Digitization Project. Sorry about the poor excuse for a photo, but I LOVE this pink. It is the essence of spring, and glides in the Hero 359 test pen. The hue and flow seem perfect to me. And April is the right time to use the last drops of my sample.

Maybe at the end of the project I can do a proper scan.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Beautiful, V, thanks. You always do such great reviews.

I managed to wrench the scanner away for a moment. Sorry about the photo. Won't try that again.

Vis - I love your reviews. I must say however, that something is wrong with your sample of kosumosu because your color is looks muddy and perhaps even grayish. This ink is CLEAR BRIGHT and much lighter than your pictures show.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

As a note, a friend of mine who speaks Japanese explained the name "Kosumosu". It's the closest Japanese can get to "Cosmos". The C becomes a K to get the right sound, and two consonant syllables aren't allowed, so a "u" is added. It is literally "Cosmos" rendered into Japanese, "Kos-u-mos-u".

And, of course, he found the definition quickly, too. I kept thinking "cosmos" like the giant space full of galaxies and stars, but it isn't, it's cosmo-s, the plant genus, including all kinds of wildflowers like the daisy.

Mystery explained!

@Amber - thank you. It may well be the case but on the other hand I've taken the sample directly from the new bottle of the ink.

Wow, what a total bummer. I'd send that bottle back.

I was surprised I had this many similar colors.

I was surprised too when I tried Flamingo Pink and fell in love.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
