Curious Hero Royal Blue Ink

While a nearby stationery shop was closing, I was just going through their archives. I came across a bottle of 59ml of Hero washable Blue ink. Since I was needing blue ink for professional work and the shopkeeper was keen to rid off it because it had stayed in the shop for round about 8 years, he gave me for about 30 INR(~0.5 USD). The ink was fairly vanilla in nature, royal blue nothing home to talk about. It is a fairly dry ink having flow properties of Pelikan 4001 inks. The one good thing was it didnt show through or bleed through in any of the copier papers I used.

What was curious was this was a scented ink having the scent of flowery smell. Anyway, I trolled ebay and alibaba for scented hero inks, but could not find anything. Anyway having a scented ink at this price is a steal.

Any comments are welcome. I am not sure whether this is right forum to post, but since this is not a review, I decided to post it the Chinese section

[Edited to clarify: I initially thought it was a flowery smell, but having second thoughts]

I have a bottle of Hero High Washable Blue Ink-number 233, 60ml, sent to me 3 or 4 years ago by a kind FPN member. I've just taken a whiff, and it's not jasmine--but phenol I believe, I like it! Pretty strong too. Could the scent in your bottle have changed a bit? Although it's hard to believe anything could overcome that phenol odor. BTW, this is one of my favorite blues, almost the equal of Aurora blue at a small fraction of the cost.

I initially thought it was a flowery smell, but having second thoughts and not so sure. The smell has definitely subdued. Was it written scented ink in your box

No, nothing about scented, but there are a lot of Chinese characters, so I don't know what they say. I'm beginning to realize why they call it "High" Washable Blue--sniff it enough and there you will be. Looking at current Hero ink offerings, I do think that my bottle is rather old, so that may make a difference.

in mine, it is written scented ink. I can definitely say that it has a flowery scent. I am not claiming that it is of the same order as fragrant oils or perfumes, but it gives of the same smell as in scented floor cleaners , but we couldn't expect more at this price range. Also, I dont expect it be phenol due to the fact that phenol is not a nice compound and is acidic and has the potential to corrode.

The ink I m talking about is Hero washable blue No.61. I still maintain it has a flowey scent, initially thought to be jasmine. I am attaching some pictures. If FPNers know about this ink, please chime in.

It looks to me as if quite some water has evaporated from your bottle, am I correct? Have you inked a pen with it?

It looks like a very interesting find! but I'd like to see what color comes out of a pen filled with it...

Also wondering if it has concentrated through evaporation if it would be worthwhile to add water to bring it back to its original concentration...?

Yes, there has been some evaporation as it is a fairly old ink. The color is royal blue. I didnt do a review as it is a fairly standard ink. I haven't added water to it. But it is a nicely saturated ink. The nearest ink which comes to my mind is Bril royal blue

If it's close to Bril royal blue I wouldn't mess with it either - that is a really lovely ink, and nicely saturated. (I have one unopened bottle and one half-gone that a friend sent me; I treasure them both).

Thanks for sharing, enjoy your find!

If it matters much, I will do a review in 2-3 days. But i doubt whether you can find another bottle of this ink.

No, not very probable, and if you showcase it people will want it... However Bril RB is still available, right?
