I was given this fountain pen as a gift, and truly love it~! The broad nib is buttery smooth. It was a used pen, however, there was only an empty cartridge which I've filled with a syringe. Some of the extra converters I have on hand do not fit all that well. So does anyone recommend a particular converter for this pen? Thanks!

Can you post a picture of the pen?

 

All of the Montegrappa pens that use converters from that period use the standard international ones unless it is one of the models designed to be cartridge only.

Thanks very much, jar. I will try to post a pic. Since it came with an empty cartridge, it may never have had a converter as you say. I didn't think of that. And that may be why I am not having luck with it fitting properly.

Montegrappa Elmo 1998 -- Converter Recommendation?

If it is the Elmo 1998 that came in Bassano {caramel/amber/brown{s},

had one which I gave away..Marostica { red } gave this to my wife..

and Asolo { blue/green..Ag .925 hardware..came in a gen-u-ine

blue leatherette box. They did use standard international as Jar

suggested. I needed a replacement converter for a Reminiscence

and I contacted Kenro Industries-- picked up Montegrappa converters

at about same price as standard...

Looks long enough. The converter will be the standard International size ones. Test first by using a long Waterman cartridge. If it works you should be good to go.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
