I'm trying to hunt down a yellow Pelikan m200 like the one in the picture below, and I was hoping one of the members here might have a lead on one. This pen is going to be an EDC gift for a friend, so I'd prefer to track down the less expensive Galeria Kaufhof version rather than the rare Critroenpers Limited Edition, but I'd honestly take either one. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

These truly are beautiful pens and unique in the M200 line-up. I don't see them come up for sale on eBay often. An example once or twice a year maybe. I know there is one or two currently up for sale on Regina Martini's site, martiniauctions.com, but they are not being offered cheaply (something like 300+ euros I believe). I'm not aware of any others actively listed elsewhere and I try to keep a pretty good eye on the secondary market. You may want to put up a wanted to buy add in the classifieds and see if you get any hits. You might get lucky. Good luck in your search.

Which raises a point: Pelikan seems to be interested in putting more product on the market and it seems there is quite an appetite on the part of followers, it makes me wonder: Why are they so timid in their offerings? I realize that the red and yellow versions of the Toledo's are not exactly burning the house down, but the M101n tribute series is just a new take on an old standard. They are nice and at that price point I realize that taking chances on radical presentations may be a risk, but I think they are neglecting their entry level market. the M200 and variant section. Think of a yellow, a violet, or pomegranate M200. Maybe a stainless or aluminum version. Even shades of grey. Perhaps not 50 shades of grey, but charcoal, or maybe, blue. green, and red marbled gray, I'd buy a black and white striped pen.

I'm just saying.

I didn't buy that Kaufhaus yellow pen (€40)....it only ends up on big sale like the 605 (€99) I bought at Kaufhaus, when it didn't sell.

Gee the next time I go to Kaufhaus I'll ask if they still got any. I was a tad of a ignorant snob...five years ago....not knowing how good the 200's nib was.

Have not ran down a yellow pen since....

Thanks for the suggestions, sarge. I wasn't aware of martiniautctions.com, so I'll keep an eye out there from now on. But 350 euros!?!? Yikes... that's still a little more than I'm able to swing (assuming the exchange rate is still stacked in the euro's favor).

That's a good point, Doc. I wonder if Pelikan is hesitant to do such a thing for fear of losing their image as a premium German pen company? I just can't help but picture those Germans looking down their nose at the Chinese and Japanese pen manufacturers churning out a myriad of colorful plastic pens. I mean, would Montblanc ever offer a rainbow of colors for their entry level pen? For that matter, would Montblanc even offer an entry level pen? Probably not.

But yes, I think it would be awesome if Pelikan got a little bit funkier with the m200 line.

I would put up an add here and on fpgeeks. I remember a few months ago someone on fpgeeks had one listed for sale but I can't remember which member or if it was bought, sorry :(

I think there were two different Yellow 200's.

There were two indeed...

1) Citroenpers limited edition of 1200 pens released in 2002, with or without the accompanying book. Commissioned by Aldert Walrecht (1931-2009) to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Citroenpers Publishing of the Netherlands.

2) Galleria Kaufhoff version that came out sometime later and was sold in their department stores.

Both pens are identical except that they can be distinguished because the Citroenpers has a 2 chick cap top and the galleria kaufhof version has a 1 chick cap top.

I moaned about this on another thread. Pelikan seem very conservative with their M2xx line up, they even seem to have dropped the Green marbled M200 finish. The M215 seems to be only available in one pattern now.

If you want something that isn't black, you're limited to whatever special edition you can get, or the red or white M205s. If Pelikan aren't going to issue Stressman or Tortoise M2xx, at least go a bit crazy with the colours

I seem to recall putting one away...filed properly

But it's the book itself that is worth mentioning too!

  • 8 months later...

Hi,

These are nice pens, was after one for ages before I managed to aquire one via a fellow member some years back (from memory Galleria Kaufhof still had some back then but woildn't sell/post outside Germany). As you say they don't come up very often.

Mine has sat in the box unused since then as I have a number of other Pelikans that I used regularly. As it happens having retired last year I find I no longer have a need to write regularly and am looking at reducing the number of pens I have as I no longer have any need to use them.

This was one of the Pelikans I was initially looking to sell along with an Amber M200 demo (holding onto the Green M250 and the Red demos for the moment).

Still wondering whether to sell them here on go to Ebay, so I need to research options.

There are two of these up for sale on eBay right now. No bids though which I suspect owes to the high asking price. Each pen is priced $250+ which feels a bit steep for this model.

I made an offer on one and got it for 259. That comes with the illustraded publishers book, so will be something to pass on to my grandson. It seems as though they only made 1200 sets, so it may not be such a bad deal, but worth what one is willing to pay.

Regards

I must admit that I was surprised to see this thread revived as I thought it to be long dead or deleted, and I apologize for not updating the post earlier this year. Thanks to the wonderful members of the FPN community, I actually managed to track down a Citroenpers pen for a good price months ago, and I'm so glad I did-- the wonderful book which came with the Citroenpers edition made it the perfect graduation gift for my friend who is now studying to become a librarian.

Thanks to everyone for their help!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
