Help Identifying A Pen

So a friend found this about to be thrown out and gave it to me. It's missing the cap and the nib is pretty messed up. Beyond the Waterman Ideal nib, there doesn't seem to be any way to identify it. I did gently check to see if the nib/feed would come out, but no luck. I cleaned it as much as possible with cold water and inked it, obviously it didnt write... Did get some ink around the feed, but I expect the nib is a lost cause. Even if the pen is nothing special, I figure it might make a good project for me.

So any idea what it is? Or you know, advice in general?

This is an eyedropper, but not sure at all it's a Waterman... (is there a number on the bottom end of the pen ?)

To fill it, unscrew the section, fill the body directly with an syringe for instance. But the nib doesn't seems in a good state (missing a tine)

I totally missed that there was a number on the bottom.

It reads:

Very cool, thanks!

Now I just have to figure out where to get a replacement cap and whether to fix the nib myself, ask someone else to fix it, or just straight up replace it...

Finding a replacement nib will be easy, and cap shouldn't be too difficult. Start by asking www.fivestarpens.com.

I'm looking at nibs, but it looks life finding a cap is going to be really tough. I'll be eternally grateful to anyone who helps me track down a replacement cap.

I believe the cap should be smooth (not chased) black (no overlay), so it should not be too difficult to find one.

However, having said that I, too, am looking for the same cap (for a chased filigree eyedropper pen).

Happy hunting,

Daniel

So I sawed off the bottom of a Bic barrel to serve as a cap and Dad generously ordered a replacement nib. In the the meantime, I got it to write!

For the cap, search ebay member 1001originals sales, he sells old(er) Waterman spares. Maybe also a message to him to ask.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
