Hi Francis,

Great to see that interest in your fabulous pens remains high.

Is there to be a production run of Kingsize Demonstrators with the new caiso system soon?

Pavoni.

Hi Pavoni,

The CAISO FPR is planned to become available mid July 2015.

Still searching for a beautiful celluloid……..

Francis

Hello Francis,

Very nice pen.

I have a question about the CAISO system. Is it a feature that will be mounted by Conid on every pen of a certain LE, or is it an option one can order on every Kingsize Bulkfiller in the catalogue?

Meanwhile keep up the good work.

André.

Hi André,

The CAISO system will only be offered as complementary option on future Kingsize bulk fillers

Francis, is the Caiso system retro-fittable?

Hi mongrelnomad

Since there are to many new precision parts involved, retrofitting cost would be too high.

Consequently Conid decided not offering a retrofit from a regular Kingsize to CAISO.

Hi fountain pen friends !

We are evaluating the use of the "transparent tortoise" celluloid for the FPR- LE Caiso Kingsize bulk filler. (see link below)

What do you think , is this a material you would like?

Thanks in advance for your valued input !

Regards, Francis

Hi D.ick,

I understand, I'm still not convinced either…...

Well, this post made me aware of Conid. I must say that the filling system is simply amazing, as an engineer, I love seeing that there are people out there who are striving to make things better instead of just going for the luxury item approach. The titanium nib and the amount of flex is impressive as well.

But the cost is what would prevent me from getting one. Have a I paid as much for a pen? Sure, I paid even more. Would I pay it for this one? I'm not so sure.

Having said that, I need some time to get infatuated with things (except some very rare cases) so I might just get one in a couple of months.

As far as material goes, the only swirly pattern that totally captured me was the Visconti HS Crystal and the rest just doesn't do it for me. That may be because I don't have easy access to swirly pens so I can't see them in person. But the pattern doesn't do much for me. Sorry for saying that :(

Sorry - doesn't work for me either. A little too 'leopard' for my tastes - but many will enjoy it.

As nice as it looks, I think the basic black pen would be more for my tastes, that is unless I could get my grubby mitts on a demonstrator version. To see all the "engineering as an art" working would be worth the price of admission alone. The top notch pen is just a bonus.

As I have purchased some newer pens based on old designs and like them, they tend to lack the soul of the much older ones I have. Soul meaning a warmer feel, springy nib, and things along those lines. Where with Condid is shooting for something new and I can't wait for mine to arrive in the mail to see if this hobby will have me spending in a new direction.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
