Nemosine Ink?

Prior to posting this query, I have searched the web, including the FPN, and contacted the pen manufacturer. So far, no good, so here goes:

I bought a Nemosine Singularity and received along with the pen six short blue-black international cartridges. Others who have bought this pen have complained that the cartridges broke during shipment and that the package resembled something akin to Dracula's shopping cart. Interestingly, most people seemed to have gotten black ink rather than blue-black, and I suppose I was fortunate that the package arrived intact.

Aurora blue is my go-to ink, so I loaded the pen and started writing. Blobs of ink came out. The bottle is good, so it's probably fair to say that this pen and ink have no future. I decided then to try out one of the enclosed cartridges and found, to my surprise, that it was nice. I mean, the flow, tone, and writing experience were all good, surprisingly so for a $14.00 pen. The cartridge wasn't identified, so I sent an email to the seller and was told that it's Nemosine ink.

My question is, what is Nemosine ink? Is it a re-branded something else? Does anyone know about its properties, where I might find it, and what might similar?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Nope, can't help you with this one. But would love to hear what you find out from the manufacturer/seller.

Best of luck to you,

Yours,

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?

I have found nothing like it. I know its not any rebranded major ink. I have used them all and nothing is the same. I would say its just a generic Chinese black maybe similar to Jinhao cartridges which can be purchased on ebay

Have you looked at the inks at xfountainpens.com? They carry an unidentified short cartridge that I think might be the ink you are talking about, in addition to Chesterfield, which is rumored to be Diamine ink.

Xfountainpens.com has two candidates, International Standard infinite Black and International Standard Deep Ocean Blue. The implication of the name is that they are compatible with most CC pens. They are not further described on the website. Does anyone have information about these particular colors? Are they the mysterious Nemosine inks?

I have heard somewhere in a YouTube video that they were JinHao Cartridges, but I'm not 100% sure anymore. I will actually try to do a small chromatography test with a black cartridge (if I have one) and another one that I'm pretty sure is a JinHao Cartridge, and post the results back here.

If I can only find the blue-black, then I will still run a slew of tests, for ya'll to see if it matches any other ink profiles.

Thank you! I only have the blue-black cartridges that were sent with the pen and would be happy to send a couple of them to you. I might also be able to contact other Nemosine users who have black cartridges. Let me know if you need anything.

I also purchased a Singularity recently and my cartridges were a very dark blue- not sure if I'd call mine a blue black (I haven't written with it in a bit, I'd have to peek at my notebook) but I do rather like them! I'm interested to see if we can identify the ink itself.

I just looked through my inks and I think I only received a blue-black which leans more toward navy blue. My chromatography test (paper towel and 10:1 water/acetic acid solution) is showing that it is made by a single dye with no banding, or a very tough dye to seperate. It's not a dry interesting chromatography to look at.

It does look like it's listed on the xfountainpens website as being Deep Ocean Blue. Not sure about the manufacture of that one though.

This is new and valuable information. The Nemosine pen is actually quite good and hasn't broken yet. Perhaps it's like the old Platignum -- an inexpensive hand-made item that as such ranges from excellent to disastrous. While I look for a more interesting ink, it's helpful to have identified one that I can count on as a backup.

I have the Singularity Demonstrator and have been carrying it around for 7 months now. Not a single major problem with it. Also have the Nemosine Fission and numerous loose #6 nibs made by them. All of them have been great. It is my favorite cheap pen by far.

I've had a Singularity for around 2 months, and it came with the exploding cartridges (glad to hear it's not just me) but they were more a medium blue. Perhaps it varies as to what's handy when they package them? Loove the Singularity, I put Levenger Shiraz in it and it's so comfortable to write with plus puts down a really nice line.

I also have a Fission, which I also love except the extra-fine nib is so extra fine that it needs a darker ink than what came with it. I do have an italic nib to replace the extra-fine once I empty the cartridge, though.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
