I don't have a large collection of Esties, but I've wanted one of these sets for a long time as I'm a sucker for "girlie". I found one yesterday at the L.A. Pen Show for a reasonable price. The pen and pencil are more of a Tiffany Blue than shows up in the pictures and are in excellent condition. The nib is pretty new looking but it's a bit "ho-hum", a 1551. If I've got something more interesting at home, I'll probably switch it out. I'll have to wait a while though. Southern California sun v. 3 feet of snow. I'll take waiting to play with my new pen any time!

I saw that pen set, it is really pretty in person. Congrats! Sorry we didn't meet up while there.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Best thing about the set would be the Cattleya orchids pictured on the sheath.

Having one of these sets' is what I'd call off to a good start.

 

Hopefully you'll add Pink Yellow, White , Green the different shades of them as well and don't forget elusive Red

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
