FANTASTIC. Thank you ! :)

Well, kind of. I hadn't planned on buying a pen so soon this year but the 3776 has been on my wish list for ages.

£32.50 delivered to the UK is incredible.

Forgive me, but it shows $99 CDN (U.S. $79.44), how do you get it for the $59 CAD (U.S, $47.39)?

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" Patrick Henry

It does now. When I clicked and purchased this morning (hence entering a contract I presume) it was $59 CAD.

I received a thank you for your order confirmation too.

I've noticed Amazon prices fluctate a lot, sometimes when a price is very low you need to jump on it quickly before it reverts to something higher again.

Yeah, I think "bold" means broad.

Interesting you say that, because it was $59 when I saw it. Then it fluctuated like crazy and now it shows $99 for me too.

I did a bit of research, and it seems as if the ones with steel nibs are going for around that price, so it might be a steel nib. :( Still a good price though. I also now see this one http://www.amazon.ca/Platinum-Brush-Cherry-PNB-10000-1-2/dp/B005M9EQC2/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1423505325&sr=8-17&keywords=platinum+3776 and the review on it is that it's a 14K nib, BUT that review was on the US site. Then there a few other ones that go for a similar price on the Canadian Amazon. My main worry is that it is the steel nib and I really want the gold nib.

If it's any consolation Amazon tends to be really great about accepting returns- if it's not the nib you want I'm sure they'll be happy to refund you if you're not content with the purchase.

It's hard to believe that such a good deal showed up on Amazon Canada of all places. Their prices are usually cringe-worthy when compared to Amazon.com.

Enjoy the pen. *stifles jealousy*

That looks like a mislabeled item. The picture is of a cheap brush pen.

These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value.--Thomas Paine, "The American Crisis", 1776

Glad to know I helped someone. Will you do a review of it?

PM me your address and I'll send you a sketch of some sort to say thanks properly. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
