Yard O Led Grande Retro Fp Black Resin

I am suffering huge temptation to buy a Grande Retro fp in black resin since I have the ballpoint and pencil. Any views on this pen which I think is one of the ''cheapest'' (if I can use that term for y-o-l!) they do. I have only had one Y O L before, an Astoria Grande which wrote badly: the nib was stiff & it had such poor ink flow I had to return it. So naturally I am a bit cautious & I wondered if anybody had any experience of this pen and brand?

I've had the silver Grande in various patterns and they were wet and smooth in the manner of a Visconti or Pelikan nib of similar size. YOL honors their lifetime warranties, so the few times I've had nib problems, I sent them in and got perfect overhauled pens back.

As Oscar Wilde wrote: 'I can resist anything except temptation', and I have given in and bought a YoL Retro Grande. It matches the above descriptions: an outstandingly beautiful pen that is just about the best writer I have. Many thanks for the encouragement. The only trouble is I now want/need another YoL!

Futile.

But I did stop (or at least pause) for awhile.

Well done, great pen :)

We need pics and a writing sample now..... :D

The YoLs are rather nice. I would love an imperial dragon, need to try and save....

Please buy and write the review. I have a Standard and a Grand, and have considered the Retro line as well. Nibs are fantastic.

This pen has been on my 'interested' list for years. What has stopped me has been the lack of reviews - it may be cheap for a YoL but it's a shocking amount for me. So please do a review!

I have a (long discontinued) YoL Grand Emperor (Majesty in the USA) which had an awful nib. Despite being a second hand pen YoL charged me £30 to change the nib with a turn around time of days, their customer service is astonishingly good.

To my mind amuch underrated company in the FP world.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
