Help With Authenticity Check! Starwalker M105657

I've been eyeing montblancs for a while and I recently splurged on a montblanc starwalker ballpoint on ebay (paid $200)--and now I'm freaking out worrying if what I bought is a counterfeit. I snapped a few quick pics--and I'd greatly appreciate any tips.

-I tried shining a flashlight through it and it does appear to see-through reddish hue

-underneath the clip, it says "made in germany" but there's no sign of "pix". I'm also concerned because the clip feels very light, almost as if it were stamped.

Again, thanks in advance for advice you guys can give me!

Edit: removed serial.

Nothing I can see on those pictures leaps out at me and suggests fake. What letters do the serial number start with, and is it perfectly straight and level?

Hi Chrissy,

Ok--I was really suspicious because after I bought it, the guy who I bought it from immediately listed another identical starwalker for sale which kind of sent me into a panic.

The serial looks pretty good--I attached a closeup of it.

That serial number looks authentic to me.

p.s. please can I suggest you don't leave it visible on here for too long as there are people about who would like to copy it and make fakes using the same number

I don't see anything suggesting a fake either, but you could take it into the MB boutique listed in the booklet (or any boutique near you) and ask them to check it over...

The pen looks and seems to be authentic. Nothing to worry about! Especially with the stamped warranty booklet. Enjoy the pen, nice price! And welcome to Montblanc :)

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
