Iroshizuku Tsuki-Yo: Staining?

The titel says it all: I've just put Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo in a demonstrator. And now I realize I have no idea whether that's a good idea. Does this ink stain or is it safe to use in a demonstrator?

I have never had Tsuki-yo stain anything.

In general I find the Iroshizuku inks to be fairly easy to clean.

I do not have that particular Iroshizuku ink and am not expert, but I would think most inks have the potential to stain. But I usualy think red are more prone to stain more quickly than other colors.

I have two transparent plastic bodied pens but neither are clear transparent. On my two, one yellow and one green, I have used a variety of inks and colors and have never noticed any staining.

me personally, I would not worry about the ink staining, to me it would be a character mark showing the pen have been used!

I've had Tsuki-yo in a couple of demonstrators and in a white Lamy Safari. No staining with any of those pens.

I had Tsuki-Yo in TWSBI 580RB for 2weeks and there was no staining :)

It's worth mentioning that staining is not all just about ink, but also pen's material. If it's porous then it's more likely to stain. For example

Ku-Jaku has stained my Franklin-Christoph '02....

Ah, that's double good news: the pen I'm using it in currently is a TWSBI Vac 700...

At the risk of admitting how abusive I am to my pens... my TWSBIs stay inked for 6 weeks on average. No stains yet. Well except for some really stainy Nostalgic Impressions Purple, but even that came out eventually. See my post about the magic of Noodler's Rattler Red.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have it in a TWSBI VAC 700 since years (dedicated pen), no staining.

Other than a shirt, which for some reason, the ink steadfastly refused to leave, I haven't had issues with Tsuki-Yo staining anything.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
