Decent Deal On Pen Storage.

Just bought one of these on the evil bay. If it's built like my cigar humidors (wood veneer over MDF), I'll be quite happy with it. They've got even bigger ones (9 drawer and over 100 pen capacity). I'm breaking my rule about not having more pens than fit in cases, and making an exception and new rule. No pens that exceed the capacity of this box. Hopefully this will keep me around the 40 pen range... (lol, yeah right).

The one I bought

Those like nice and at a very nice price! Sadly, they do not lock.

What good is a lock on one of these? Seriously. If I meant to steal your pen, I would just grab the whole box and take em' all. I suppose a lock would stop the "opportunistic" type of thief if this case were in a public place like an office.

Keep kids from playing with your pens?

I received the case today, and I'll do a review or something this weekend. A quick summary though: It's worth the 79 euros I paid, but I don't know if I would have bought it for 179.

It's definitely MDF (which I'm ok with for the price), with wood veneer. The black portions are painted, and it's a mediocre job. The "glass" is plexi, and pretty thin. On a more positive note, the lining is nice and reminds me of the lining in a Montblanc box. The slots are plenty big, and a 149 or Nakaya NeoStandard easily fits (with room to spare).

For something to sit on the shelf or credenza and hold your pens, it's more than suitable. It seems well made and looks nice (as long as you don't get close and scrutinize it.

If I knew then what I know now, I'd buy it again at the price I paid. Like I said above, I'm not sure it's worth the full "buy it now" price and I can think of other options for 179 euros. Could be that they're auctioning seconds or blemished samples, and the full price ones are nicer. I doubt it though.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
