Is A Company Logo On Sheaffer Targa Clip Removable

Is a company logo on a Sheaffer Targa clip removable? Easily? Has the logo left a mark on the clip in all likelihood? Would you rather get a new clip? Or is the logo an interesting addition to the majority of collectors? In the world of watch and coin collecting, engravings and patina are not such a horror as in the world of pen collectors. Or am I wrong there? Many questions, please answer at least a few if you have an opinion.

Some are nice, others just fuggly, some folk like em, others don't.

Some day you feel like a nut

some days you don't ...

I have some I really like and for me, such things have not been a biggie when the stars align.

In a Targa collection of many pieces a few having company logos would be in keeping with how the Targa was marketed. I probably have about 30 now with two or three having logos. They were fastened on fairly well so I can't but help to think they would leave a mark. Removing a clip wouldn't be easy as you'd have to pull out that plastic inner cap but, finding a replacement cap shouldn't be that hard so maybe just swap caps. Patina is something we should except in pens but, the hobby is mostly users so shinny and new is the rule.

I removed a company logo from a Cross Townsend clip. The logo had two pins projecting from the underside, I discovered, so it left two small holes in the clip.

Best,

It's much easier, and safer, to replace the clip - and you'll have the clip with the logo intact which is cool even if you don't want it on the pen. You need to remove the clutch and inner cap to get at the clip screw. The clutch gets tossed, but we can often save the inner cap so it doesn't always have to be replaced. I have replacement clips (both gold and chrome), clutches and inner caps in stock and can do it for you. Contact me BC if you'd like it done.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
