I think a Zoom nib has varying line widths depending on what angle the nib is held at.

 

True, but if you keep it at one specific angle (not 90degrees)... the cross strokes are wider than the downstroke.

A more exotic regrind is that to Architect’s Point. Named after the style of writing used by Frank Lloyd Wright, this regrind is the opposite of cursive italic, and provides for broad cross-strokes and narrow down-strokes. You can also achieve this style by holding a nib with a cursive italic regrind at a nine o’clock angle, parallel to the writing line. This also tends to be a particularly useful customization for those practicing Arabic or Hebrew calligraphy. The Architect's Point is best made from a Sailor Zoom or Naginata Broad nib, or a BB or 3B nib in other brands. The more "height" the tip of a nib has, the more dramatic the difference can be between a narrow down-stroke and broad cross-stroke.

Just got a Goulet Pen Company extra fine #6 replacement nib and I am once again totally and thoroughly in love...with my Bexley America the Beautiful, Strawberry Swirl :wub:

Cyper6, thanks for the research...

 

Hmmmm..... digs through drawer in search of a BB or bigger..... this looks really cool, especially since that is my normal mode of script for work and notes... LESS NEAT than the provided sample from 00photo of course..

 

and on that note; 00Photo, stellar photos and beautiful writing as usual, keep it coming.

Pens: jinhao 750 w/ knox fine nib, ROMUS demonstrator (no idea about this pen, came free with a late order and writes very well), Pilot VP, Kawaeco AlSport

 

And this came in the mail, a gift from my wife for Valantines day... for all the "Pretty Pens" I have.... I tried to explain that pens are not pretty, they are Beautiful, but then felt like I was in a losing argument and just said thanks dear... it is really nice and she loaded it with some of the "pretty pens" for me.

Edit: In the last picture, I wrote in a different ink. Diamine Turquoise~ :) Written on Double A paper which I HIGHLY recommend. It's 10 dollars a ream at Office Depot and handles fountain pens very well!

Platinum 3776 Borgogne with a Dan Smith architect regrind of the stock Platinum "C" nib. Ink is Rohrer and Klingner Salix.

I should try an architect point! Looks fun!

Dan will be famous for these grinds soon, I think.

Wow, that is one gorgeous pen display! My husband thinks my pens are "pretty" as well and I too do not try and further explain that they're so much more than that. :rolleyes: I'm just happy that he seems content to let me enjoy my fountain pens (and I let him enjoy his CD collection) lol.

I just got my first Wahl....OH MY! I love this pen! Aside from a sac, all it needed was a good cleaning and buffing.

 

 

Good thing there's no buttons to 'like' a post. I'd still be clicking it for this one.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
