Brad Torelli 45 Masterpiece

HI all,

I got this incredible Brad Torelli 45 fountain pen a few years ago through a trade wtih a very dear friend who is no longer with us. It is a large pen and an incredible writer. Torelli calls it "45" and it's basically his interpretation of the MB139.

It is a large pen measuring almost 14cm and is really well balanced and light. It has a pump filling system that holds a lot of ink and the material is a gorgeous translucent green/pearl acrylic. Under different lighting condition the material really changes and creates a truly eye-catching effect. Because fo the translucency of the material it can almost be considered a demonstrator as you can easily see how much ink you have in it.

It has a beautiful MB149 fine nib, a vintage MB 14K solid gold clip, and a 14K solid gold cap band.

I use this pen almost daily for the past 3 years. It's a pure joy to use.

I have tried and failed to photograph the pen in the past as I find it difficult to show the depth and beauty of the material. Recently my good friend Judy took on the challenge and I think her photos are amazing.

Wow, this is one of the nicest modern interpretations of a vintage Montblancs I've seen!

 

Very nice; the color and material goes a long very well with the vintage style pen.

 

The shape clearly follows the very early Meisterstück pens of the late 1920's, even the 149 nib is of the same style as later 13X series pens. So it actually might be modeled after the original Meisterstück 45 and not the 139. The 45 was the top model (=largest) push-button filler at that time and predecessor of the 129, 139 and 149.

 

This is definitely a keeper.

Lovely pen!! I just came into a 45 demonstrator myself. It had a slight oblique cut to it so i sent it to Brad fir a grind. I get the pen back this monday. Brad is a fantastic guy and even though i did not buy the pen through his retailers he was more than willing to do the work for free. Such a neat guy. Once i get the pen back and have it for a bit i am going to do a review/ comparison between it and my astoria goliath and my romillo. My 45 has a 60's semi flex mb 149 nib that is simply glorious. The craftsmanship on my pen is flawless. Id be willing to bet your pen is mo different

Dear veryred and Soot, thank you very much for your comments. I also have an MB149 which I think is a wonderful pen, but I do prefer writing with the Torelli. I love 149 nibs.
