Recommend Me Some Fat Acrylic/celluloid/resin Pens

I'm looking for a thick pen. It doesn't necessarily have to be long, but it must be broad. I've been looking at Deltas, but most seem just outside my price range. I've also been talking with Renee over at Scriptorium about some possibilities and I may end up with something from there.

I really want the pen to be all acrylic/celluloid/resin etc. Something mottled or swirled. The section would need to match the barrel too.

While the Noodler's Neponset is a larger pen, it just isn't broad enough for comfort. I've also looked at Edison and there is nothing broad enough there it seems.

What would people suggest? $250ish.

What I mean...something like this (except with matching section):

Thanks in advance!

Does it come in nice acrylic or celluloid though? Aren't they mostly black and metal?

Yes, the Sheaffers are metal and do not come in plastics. For plastic, I recommend a Laban Mento. They are kind of long, but also thick. Beautiful colors. Might not be thick enough - those Deltas are mega large! Another possibility is the Taccia Doric, which is pretty thick and might be what you need, though I do not know if it comes in enough colors that you might like.

There are two reviews of the Doric in the Review section and a larger number of reviews of the Mentos.

Hope this helps!

The fantasy Legacies certainly do. Speerbob should have a few, if I recall right.

Calculating.

The recs above are good. My thickest pen is a custom from Scriptorium. I ordered mine with a custom blended blank from Jonathan Brooks for no extra cost. I'm really happy with it, so I think you're exploring good directions.

Franklin Christoph's 19 "1901" is respectably fat, and the choice of acrylic colour (black or smoke) as well as the wide colour range of acrylic bands (barrel and cap) and nibs make it a must-consider.

No affiliation. I just love FCs.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
