A Gift From A Friend

So I met up with a good friend of mine today and she surprised me with a wonderful gift, my first Pilot Capless. :) I've had this pen on my wishlist for next year. I'm so happy that I can cross it off now. i'm not sure what color this is, though. I inked it with Sailor Miruai because the colors match. :) Is this dark teal? I'm sure it's not blue because she let me pick the color that I like (brought a box of VPs with her) and there was a blue pen in the box, the color is very different from this one. Anyway, I'm loving this pen a lot! ^_^ Happy, happy Christmas!

Wow, that is a wonderful gift!

Hope you enjoy it for years to come.

If you do not mind me asking, how did you react when you saw the gift?

I would have been ecstatic, wanting to use the pen right then! If it came with a cartridge I would have popped it in right there!

As I recall from trying one, the Pilot nibs are wonderful (I just can't get past the clip). What a great gift! Handsome color, too, right up my alley.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Actually the person who gave the gift was my mom's best friend. I only got to know her when my mom passed away and we've grown very close since then. She's like a second mother to me. The pen came with a very heartfelt letter. I wanted to cry when I got it, I was very touched. I hugged her and thanked her for her kindness. :) I wanted to ink the pen right away, but I knew it would pair well with Miruai so I waited until I got home. i have this thing (I'm sure many of us do) where I want my ink to complement the pen's color as much as possible. hahaha.

I can see the pics now. Odd. I wonder if one of my cats had knocked out the ethernet wire which goes into the Netgear Homeplug? Often happens.

That's a great pen and a wonderful friend you have there.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
