... is Amethyst!

nice, but would you call that amethyst?.

PS Three exciting revelations in as many days. Now while they're at it, what about a limited edition? Of late, an LE seems to mean sending some blanks off to Japan for a bit of Makie-e or Raden work. Very nice, but not what I call a proper limited edition. I vote for another Wonder, and of the remaining two, what could be more tempting than the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. Nothing says hot new pen like funerary architecture.

The mineral Amethyst can be heat treated to deepen the color.

http://www.gia.edu/amethyst-quality-factor scroll down to see cool picture of different shades of amethyst

so yeah almost any shade of that type of purple can be called amethyst :P

I think if you treat it long enough or something, it becomes citrine.

It's all just colored quartz and color fades over time when exposed to light. Would be cool to have a purple with yellow shading or yellow with purple shading.

I agree, I think the purple color appears appropriate to be called Amethyst. I wonder what other announcements that Pelikan might have in store.

I guessed that it would be a purple. :D

This is not my favourite colour. I prefer more a bluish violet.

If you'll all recall, this ink color was created by a fan through a contest that Pelikan hosted earlier this year allowing us to color-mix to create our own ideal ink color. This is the entry that was chosen. I hope they do similar again for 2016.

I am looking forward to getting ahold of this color at the beginning of the year, and writing for many long months with it.

What a beautiful color!

I love purple so I am very excited about this ink!

Any ideas when it will be available?

MB has a new Lavender Purple out. I have a bottle. I haven't tried it yet.

Got to finish my gray phase first.

I was hoping that Pelikan would bring back one or both of it's '90's grays. Gray and Silver Gray. I have them in old cartridges in a couple of my Celebry pens.

I have the new MB lavender Purple. It is a beautiful ink! And so very well behaved too. It is an elegant ink imo. I purchased mine directly from Mont Blanc's website.

Has anyone seen this ink for sale yet?

I have not seen it yet. I inquired at Goulet and they said it is *expected* around the middle of the month. They said it should be announced in their newsletter when it is available.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
