Here is my latest adventure in the 3D printing. The snake is very popular animal integrated into clip/roll stopper designs. Here is my version. This is printed in white plastic. As you can guess, It's a little flimsy as a clip but fine as a roll stopper. I ordered gold plated stainless steel as well but it will come little later. I'm really having fun with this technology.

Which printer are you using? I'm considering getting one.

I don't have one. I use "Shapeways" as my printer. I believe the desktop 3D printer need little more improvement in print quality and price for practical use.

I am going to try PMC clips more seriously. The current plan is to CNC a clip onto a wax block (Green Ferris 'File-a-wax') as below:

Then make an L shaped open silicone rubber mould for the PMC from the wax positive. That way the clay can be smeared into the mould, it dry and then the mould bent away from the clay before firing.

 

I hope it'll work...

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
