Brown - Sailor

Sailor makes stunning inks. Recently Cyber6 has sent me the sample of Jentle Brown ink from 2007-8 (?). Frankly this is one of the most interesting browns I've ever seen. Simply amazing.

Does anyone know it's presently obtainable twin? I've tried quite a lot of browns (soon I'll post comparison of around 70-80 of them) and this one remains quite unique to my eyes.

I'm thinking Cacao de Bresil from J. Herbin, but ti's not exact. That is a very evocative brown from Sailor.

Great ghostly avatars, Vman!

Watch out for the lovely Cyber6! She generously shares her favorite inks!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Hi Visa,

TROM gave me a bottle...... I LOVE that brown

Das leben ist wie ein Perpetuum Mobile mit ein Mangel..... Immer im Bewegung jedoch nicht unendlich. (life is like a troubled Perpetuum Mobile ever moving but not for ever)

Tricked throughout the centuries...

For centuries people had been tricked by kings & "religion-alism"

In the 20th century people got tricked by communism

Today people get tricked by (neo)capitalism :)

Lucky you.

I'll make advert in classifieds. Maybe someone still has some of it :)

I'll repeat myself but this ink is simply stunning.

I am so glad you like it... I only send you the BEST.....

For everyone else... this is the Sailor Jentle Brown (first from the left). It was part of the Winter 2009 Season I believe it was released 2007 as Visvamitra posted.

Ooh, what ink was the first on the left, there? Looks like a nice gold or something?

//

Also, nice review! Beautiful brown.

Need to look for that one... I have Sailor Yellow-Orange which has the same box... but the bottle label is lighter.

The blue from that line is pretty terrible, and so was the green. Totally washed out and insipid, in my opinion. I didn't get to try the brown, but I don't tend to like browns so I'm not heartbroken. I prefer to just look at gorgeous online pictures instead. Thanks visvamitra! :)

Sorry everyone... I made a mistake... the Sailor Brown is actually the FIRST one on the left. The second one is Sailor Red-Brown.

I did some googling and the first one is the Sailor Brown (from this review)... the second bottle is Sailor Red-Brown. The Sailor Yellow-Orange is not shown on the picture.. and that review (your link) makes it look way too yellow.

This one is better... http://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread.php/6239-FYI-Sailor-Ink-Fans

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
