Is The 147 A Pen That Was Faked?

I read a lot about fake Montblanc pens on this forum and was wondering if the 147 was one of the pens that gets faked. I love the idea of the 147 for travelling and want to know how safe it is to purchase from eBay.

Hope you experts can advise.

I have never heard of a fake 147 but be careful of sellers from places that are known to have fakes such as China, etc. (As I have heard of)

You state that you've read a lot about fakes on this site, have you seen one about the 147? I'm sure if they exist your research would have stumbled across people mentioning them.

People are too paranoid about facts.

The 147 has an unusual 'sleigh' like cartridge system inside the top that is built into it's top cone. I've never seen a fake of that filling system.

Most, if not all, of the Mb fakes that you will find will unscrew in the centre and be C/C fillers

On the other current thread, Icywolfe has mentioned that a fake 147 from China had a white plastic cartridge holder in it. I wonder what the nib looked like?

The only fakes I've seen are the starwalkers, the bohemes, the 144, 145, and 142's plus a whole bunch of le's we's and poa's

What a strange answer to a straight forward question, surely this forum is exactly the correct place to ask such questions! As to the statement "People are too paranoid about facts" well this doesn't make any sense, too paranoid about fakes would make more sense I suppose.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
