HisNibs.com update -- Conklin/Chinese re-stocking and Holiday offer

Greetings all,

To celebrate the upcoming holidays, we're continuing the Holiday Offer
begun on Cyber Monday. Lai Yee is offering a handmade 2-pen pouch
http://hisnibs.com/cyber_monday.htm (a $10.00 value) for free, with any
purchase of $40.00 or more from the His Nibs website (while supplies last)!

As a result of last week's newsletter, the new fountain pen series from
Conklin -- the Duragraph http://hisnibs.com/duragraph.htm -- sold out in a
heartbeat. Available in three striking resin patterns and at a price that
can't be beat, I've restocked as many as I could (Conklin is now sold out,
probably until after the New Year)! [NOTE: As this newsletter goes out to my
subscribers first, my restocking order has virtually sold out as I write
this. However, I’m happy to take orders for the pens that will likely arrive
after Christmas].

Also restocked are a boatload of your favorites from China. Rather than list
all of them here in the newsletter, please go to the homepage
http://hisnibs.com and scroll down a bit to see all of those marked
restocked. There are a number of favorites -- such as some of the Jinhao
Celluloids -- that haven't been available for some time.

As this newsletter goes out to a mailing list of thousands of customers,
please understand if there's a delay in answering your email queries or
orders after one of these is sent. We will respond in order received and as
soon as possible!

"Thanks, Norm! Lovely light well-balanced writer (stub) and it rhymes with
the writing table at the cafe!"
T. D.

"Dear Norman, the Forest Green Duragraph arrived today, and I can see why it
is a popular seller. It is a most attractive pen and well represents the
proud history of the best pens of past years. Even better, it is a fine
writer and does not disappoint in the least. Private Reserve Spearmint will
be the perfect ink for this pen, and I will need to order some once this
Christmas madness is over. I love the two-pen pouch that Lai Yee has made,
and I want you to thank her for the care she took to make it; thank you too,
Norman, for including it as a free gift with my order...Thank you very much
for the fine merchandise and excellent service during this past year,
Norman. I hope you all have a most wonderful Christmas and the very best in
the New Year."
C. K.

Conklin re-introduces a new -- and its most affordable pen series -- the
Duragraph.

From Conklin: "In 1923, the Duragraph model was launched, and shortly
afterwards was considered to be 'the definitive' pen. The model was named by
combining the words, durable and graph - Duragraph. Created to last as an
heirloom to serve many generations, the Duragraph is offered with a lifetime
guarantee. The new Duragraph collection brings a fresh, modern style to this
timeless oversize flat top design. Crafted from quality hand made resins,
the Duragraph is substantial in size, yet not so large to be unwieldy in the
hand."

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
