The converter itself is one of the best dead give-aways I've seen for a fake, they didn't even try to make a MB replicate of a converter.

Plus the plating on the nib alone is horribly obvious. Even some of the Chinese branded pens do a better job at plating.

I'm surprised the seller sold it anyways, despite the illegalities of it.

Well it ended at £117. Think I will dig out my fake collection and make a killing as eBay are obviously allowing the sale of fakes now. as long as you say it's a fake ;) it must be ok

After looking on eBay, I'm pretty sure that image was Photoshopped.

Still amusing...

No, it was NOT photo-shopped - honest. I swear on my MB149.

(but a little knowledge of HTML comes in handy)

Here's one that isn't photoshopped or creatively enhanced...

Question is, do people bid on these without reading the bottom line? That, and if they really want to buy a fake, why do they bid when they can pick one up for less than half that from one of those fake sellers direct.

This one is even better and I didn't alter it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131380989277

Item description:

This is a very unusual design.

It came from China- need I say more.

Lovely pen.

There are slight marks on the black part of the pen that you hold, but not really noticeable.

On the ring of pen it says MONL BLANC MELSTERSTUCK.

Obviously bad spelling in China.

Most people wouldn't notice this unless they were studying the pen. Still looks great with the snow top.

Nice Christmas present.

It is probably a good pen - looks very much like a jinhao, but you can pick up a good chinese pen for £2.50 rather than £40.

That seller certainly has some gaul to be selling such obvious fakes.

IMHO fake Montblanc pens listed on ebay used to be removed quickly. Now it seems like they aren't.

I actually believe that Mb don't really care if fakes are sold in the second hand market as long as their boutiques are selling the authentic stuff.

I can't stop laughing! The Charles Rice creations are fantastic, including the details! "Stepped on by a yak" and "2K yellow gold", not to mention the "Sorry" condition.

Well done!

Appreciatively,

Daniel

PS Is it too late to order one of those for Christmas delivery?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
