Sailor Bung Box Omaezaki Ruri Kaishoku (Omaezaki Lapis-Lazuli Ocean Colour)

This ink is called "Omaezaki Ruri Kaishoku" (transliteration from Google Translate). Omaezaki is a city at the tip of a peninsula on Japan's Pacific coast. Ruri is some sort of glass or stone. Kaishoku means the colour of the ocean. This ink has a sister ink, called "Omaezaki Ruri Sora-iro", the colour of the sky. I think these two inks allude to the colours of the sky and ocean one would see in Omaezaki.

 

Anyway I purchased this ink. The sky one is too light for my liking.

(The sheen is crazy, so much that I can barely see the colour of the ink itself. But it was very very wet here in the splash.)

Verdict

It's a very pretty dark blue ink with a hint of green. The name, Ocean Colour, is quite accurate. It writes as a fresh blue colour and dries to a darker tone. The drier part of the writing is bluer, and the wetter part looks greener. As other Sailor inks, it behaves well. The flow is smooth, no feathering or bleedthrough.

I forgot to compare it to other blue inks I have... But I shall post a comparison with Sailor Sei-boku soon.

Love that color...where/how can it be purchased?

 

Last Sailor Bung Box that I purchased I believe I went thru Atsu...I'll have to check. It was pretty expensive per bottle...

You can order available bung box inks by emailing the store directly I don't remember the email address but you can find it on their site (using Google Translate).

 

The person who answered my email spoke English fairly well. He sent me a paypal invoice and I have my inks 3 days later.

Not this one. I purchased Light of Dewdrop (a light green) and Tears of a Clown (red-purple).

 

I've used both and they've performed as flawlessly as all the Sailor inks I have (17 as of this post).

A great colour. But... I prefer the sky blue. I seem to be in a minority of one though...

How much did each bottle come to with shipping included when buying straight from Bung Box, dale?

From their website, it says that shipping for:

 

1 bottle of ink is 2,220 JPY (roughly $22 CAD)

and

2 bottles of ink is 2,800 JPY (roughly $27 CAD)

Sorry, that was rather imprecise, wasn't it? $60 for 2 inks and shipping to the US, all inclusive.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
