So, You Think * You * Have Some Esties You Need To Finish...

Frank worked on and did the basics on 4 boxes of Esties today. About 8 more boxes to go. Lots of checking, cleaning, polishing and all the other stuff that goes into a fully restored pen, far more than sticking a new sac in and calling it done. That doesn't work for us.

I noticed at least on BP-MP set in there.

I dare yall to convert that BP over (EDIT; Micro refill) and sell it. It'd be gone lickety split.

A Lost Wages pen possee.

Oh heyal yeagh.

There's so many way cool places to meet. [EDIT] My nomination is where ever there's a good view of the Bellagio fountains from.

I would bet If you could get the word out, there's some pretty flamboyant people there with FPs in their pockets.

I've done a handful and we don't have that many people arrive. So when we have visitors in town, that's the perfect time to organize a posse.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

200 fountain pens, and not one of them works ? Sad.

Auf freiem Grund mit freiem Volke stehn.
Zum Augenblicke dürft ich sagen:
Verweile doch, du bist so schön !

Those look great and I'd love to have some for the collection. Alas, I am cutting back on the pen budget and searching the bay for $10 Esties. I have not gotten anything out of the ordinary but I did get a nice copper SJ. It required a lot of cleaning along with a new sac and it is now all back together looking and writing fine.

I'm sure you already know this and it was probably just a simple mistake but, the collar is facing the wrong direction in this pic! Don't put it back to gether the way you have it laid out, turn the collar around first.

:-) I never noticed that in the picture.

That was the first thing I noticed in the picture ;)

That and I didn't realize you could separate the nib and feed like that on the Estie nibs.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
