Hi to all on the FPN. I came across this site as a result of watching sbrebrown's pen reviews on Youtube as a result of this I have purchased and am waiting for a certain amount of pens. Now abit about me and the past two weeks. It started two weeks ago I was bored and doodling with a ballpoint pen I know I know but it was all that was in the house at the time. As I have always been interested in fancy handwriting and being able to use a fountain pen I decided to get one, well that's where it went a bit crazy as I'm on a limited budget I took to eBay after a few of sbrebrown's reviews and ordered.

Jinhao 159

Jinhao x450

Jinhao x750

Baoer 388

Parker IM 1992

Parker 15 flighter

Sheafer viewpoint calligraphy

Being the impatient type i counldn't wait for them to arrive so I went out and bought a few cheap fountain pens.

Berol handwriting fountain pen

Tesco's cheap cartridge pen

Maped freewriter

Using these for a few days I got bored and bought a Pilot MR Crocodile then the Parker IM arrived the morning after as a result I can tell the difference in the quality nibs alot smoother than the three above. Anyhow I have waffled on a bit. Pens I have my eye on.

Parker duofold senior

Mont Blanc 149

Kaweco sport classic

Lamy Safari

And a few others as well.

I will post pictures of my pens and a writing sample later

Danny.

Welcome !

Remember to take time to enjoy each acquisition. New pens should be given a thorough flush and rinse to remove

manufacturing residue, before first ink. Relax your writing grip. Concentrate on shaping each letter the way you want

it to appear on the paper.

Hi , welcom to you from one who was made, forcibly , to grow with fountain pens right from grade 5 in school upto college. We pakistanis are forbidden in school and college to use Ballpoints/RBs. It is only in the University that one is allowed to part ways with FPs if one so wished. Welcome again in FPN dear Danny151284.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad
”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
