So, almost all of these inks (not BSB) will shade with the correct pen and paper. BSB will never shade and still be that over the top blue.

I agreed until today. I addressed a letter today with BSB and saw (subtle) shading! :yikes: The envelope was "Southworth Fine Linen" 25% cotton, Ivory. I'll see if I can't sacrifice an envelope and reproduce to post a picture. Daily is already fading, I'm afraid.

I snipped most of the address. I took a new photo, but the natural light is too poor now. This photo is unedited (besides crop) and very close to true.

Wooah. My eyes . . .

 

I have not used BSB a lot because it tends to look purple to me unless in direct sunlight. I'm thinking now that I'll always have a pen inked with BSB. Talk about searing the retinas of the poor mail lady! Hope they do not kick it back as unreadable. :lol:

Holy Moly I think we have a winner!!!!!!! This is by far up there with Shocking blue as the best blue ink I have seen online, thanks for the suggestion!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
