Montblanc Pens Of Questionable Authenticity!

Hi there guys, new to the forum. Basically I was wondering whether any of you could confirm my suspicions that these pen(s) are not authentic. I received them as a gift a number of years ago and being someone who knows next to nothing about pens they've been left in the attic. My last question is if they are not authentic would there still be a market for selling them on ebay or various other auction sites?

Thanks for your time. post-118253-0-18210200-1416566444.jpgpost-118253-0-54691000-1416566457.jpgpost-118253-0-38435800-1416566469.jpgpost-118253-0-90903300-1416566483.jpg

Absolutely definitely 100% fake. No doubt about that whatsoever. The picture shows a fake pen in a fake box.

It is against the law to offer them for sale anywhere.

Thought as much! Cheers

Learning curve here .... what are the clues? Thanks!

The thin pressed clip, the signature simply printed, the quality of imprint on cap rings ...

It is suppose to be a Dumas fake? I thought the barrel on an Alexandre Dumas pen also had a different resin finish. The signature is incorrect too.

Actually the signature looks pretty close to the actual father's signature. The Dumas pen has a a partial crystal type resin finish on the barrel segregated into thirds by gold trim. The piston knob is brown resin with a gold ring near the end. As far as I know the writer's editions only have one type of edition that comes out each year. The Dumas was initially released with the son's signature and was recalled in favor of the accurate father's signature. All one solid resin color and non-gold trim is just all wrong for the Dumas.

Their release with the wrong Dumas signature is pure comedy gold.

Might as well use them until they break. They are not bad looking as just plastic pens.

Montblanc don't make a pen that even resembles this. Nor do they make boxes like that with a satin band that goes over the pen

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
