I have no idea where to look everyone. There used to be a Frenchman who sold these. Thanks so much. -Bill-

Just so happens I saw some Carene nib units at nibs.com last night.

Why do nibs.com charge an extra $40 for a stub. They are the same price here in the UK.

Mr Lewertowski no longer trades on ebay. I think he is an FPN member so perhaps a message might get through as to if he still has any parts to sell. If you search Amazon you will find he has ceased trading on there as well and he receives negative feedback on his last sales in April 2014.

You could also try FPN member Dutchpen he may have something.

That's sad! he was a great source of good pens & accessories, and yes, he certainly was a member of FPN. I hope he still is.

I've bought several items from him over the years, always with great service.

You can find them, but the price is usually pretty steep. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a pen to get the nib.

I bought a couple of nibs from nibs.com. EF and F. Two pens I bought with L and M nibs were less.

Edit to add: What about Newell Rubbermaid? I have bought Phileas nib and section units from them. 1-800-237-8736. Monday through Friday. I think they are open 8 to 5.

As you can see if you visit mr Lewertowski's profile, he has not been active here for over a year. He may of course visit as a "visitor"

Indeed for a long time he was the go-to trader for Waterman/Parker with good service and great prices.

The story was, he was too cheap and Sanford spoke to him.... He then became a seller on Amazon. But I have not seen him there for some time either.

I tried to buy from him 2 yrs ago on Amazon Germany and got the message that this dealer did not ship to my country, which was strange as it was within the EU and I had bought from him on Ebay before.

Pen Seller from France currently has stuff on Amazon UK. Is that not Lewertowski?

Regards

Timothy

True and while looking through his listings, this appeared...Mr Pen Pens...£72 which is quite a good price considering I have seen them much higher.

Currently I see 1 Carene nib from Pen Seller from France (Lewertowski) in medium, rhodinated, for the same price Force mentions.

MrPen has them on a much higher price on his own website...

It is a strange business, online sales...

If the demand is so great, maybe I should sell all this Carene stuff.

Just FYI, Googling Lewertowski showed this URL

http://www.societe.com/societe/pen-seller-from-france-480258722.html

which suggests that this company is 'in liquidation' :(

If this is so and he has gone out of business completely, it is, IMO, a very sad day.

Hmm, I read French passably, but my French law is sketchy at most.

Does this "en cours de liquidation" mean that he is bankrupt? Or that he just is closing business and retiring. Looked like he did good business in 2012...

Perhaps one of our French friends can shed a light here...

The dating on the 3 liquidation applications is a little odd. It's day/month/year for the first then month/day/year the others. Unless the 18 is an error. Must have been a very poor 2012/13 and 2013/14. I suspect with 4 employees it became impossible.

If you look at the prices of Waterman pens on Amazon it's not surprising. Typically our high street stationers have Carenes at £190 which can be bought online for £110/£120 delivered.

I miss him. But US Customs didn't help him any. On one memorable occasion one of my Carenes purchased from him languished in Customs for 7 weeks. Then eBay US changed their fee structure and a lot of my favorite sellers went away.

A string of snarky buyers wanting next day delivery (you've seen similar rants here on the board) might have put the nail in.

Virtually impossible to get obliques at affordable prices this side of the water anymore. I've stopped collecting Carenes now he's gone.

If an entire pen is only worth $75, shipped, what would be a realistic price to ask for a nib unit? $35 shipped? That would be about one fourth of the retail price. Not worth it to sell.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
