Wahl All-Metal Pen - Name Of Pattern?

I picked up a gold-filled Wahl All-Metal pen recently on eBay. I have never seen this pattern before, and couldn't find it in any of the catalogs to which I have access. It's worn pretty badly - some of the pattern is gone in fact. I have not tried cleaning it up yet, so it is also dirty. Anybody have any idea what this pattern was called?

First - I love the quote at the bottom and say it to confuse my kids.

 

Secondly - I have the same question posted a couple of years ago and got no responses. I have the same pen, fortunately in better shape.

 

Hopefully someone - *(Syd... Syd... Are you there....? ) will have more information.

There was also a discussion on Facebook in the Fountain Pens group, but it's pretty hard to find. The original pen had black enamel paint on the pairs of squares and running in vertical stripes on the sides of the panels containing the squares. Does your pen have any paint left?

No paint at all. Just appears to be twotone with gold filled in top if a whitish base metal. I have seen it for sale on ebay twice and bought one. Now these two pics from your posts. None have any paint that I have seen. I think it looks pretty cool as it is, but a catalog pic showing the paint would be interesting.

Just took a closer look at the link and David Isaacson's pen. Interesting to know that it was painted and which pats were painted.

 

Here is an interesting question - to repaint my pen or not? I really don't plan to, but would it be a good idea or a bad idea?
