I have two of these boxes which I purchased, empty, a couple of years ago. I don't think they were intended for Sonnet pens. Others may have more info.

My Sonnet came in a slightly different box. Dont know if the box and the pen itself were original or fake. This fake Sonnet discussion has made me really doubtfull sbout my own Sonnet. Hope someone would clearify.

I am no expert on Sonnet Boxes, so having established my [lack of] bona fides, on to my Sonnet Box:

I would have dismissed my genuine Sonnet box as a fake if I'd seen it on its own. The box is an end loading dark brown/nearly black drawer with a 3 pen pen wrap in it - the wrap has a magnetic closure from flat magnets sewn into the wrap. The outer drawer box had a simple white card sleeve. My only response to my box is 'I really don't know enough to be reliable on the subject'.

Richard.

I can confirm that your box is genuine. It is the latest design and most upper end Parkers use this type. (You can tell by the latest Parker Arrow Logo.)

Yes I have seen this design on genuine Sonnets made just before the latest design of box was released (see mitto's post).

The OP shows a design that was phased out some years ago, still has the original Arrow Logo and is a very expensive design.

I am sure Richard will reply but it looks genuine to me. However if it is in the latest box it could be that someone has changed the box as the Parker Logos don't match. That is not unusual.

Matlock , Keep in mind I have purchased it just four days ago. On Nov 14 , 2014.

I see no reason to doubt that the pen is genuine. It is a Sonnet Silver Lustre of 2007 (P.1 date code) and is in the latest design of box. All the engraving looks good and I believe that you have got a great pen. Enjoy.

Thanks for your replies.

If the price is right, may try and purchase one set and see what I get!!

Yes watch the price as the FPs have plated S/S nibs. Good pen set though.

As the Receipt shows , I purchased it for Pak Rupees 10500.00. The current exchange rate of USD versus Pak Rupee being Rs 102.40 for a Dollar the price in USD becomes 102.53. Is it a fair price for a brand new boxed silver lustre Sonnet?

Yes mitto, I would say that is a very good price for a great pen. Enjoy it.

I did reply in the original thread about the pen, and just from the quality of the engraving everywhere it looks genuine to me. BUT I must add that I only have one Sonnet, a Stainless CT 2007 refresh. I do not own any others (genuine or not). I have drooled over looked at lots of Sonnet photos though! (and a few fakes too). With my current finances the closest I get to buying a new Sonnet is the Kaigelu 356.

Richard.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
