What's The Difference Between Blue Obsession And Regular Blue?

I've been eyeballing the Perspective and I've come across two blue models: Blue Obsession (Ref. 1904576) and Blue (Ref. 1750135).

I checked the Waterman site and Blue Perspective (Ref. 1750135) was nowhere to be found. Is this an older version? Is it a different shade of blue? Is it simply minor re-branding? What is the difference exactly?

Curious, I Googled 'Blue Obsession', and got a link to the Waterman page about it at http://www.waterman.com/en/content/32-the-blue-obsession-collection

It includes a link to 'view the collection', which took me here... http://www.waterman.com/en/70-find-your-pen/category-carene-expert-hemisphere-perspective/color-004f8c which shows the 4 models available, including the Perspective.

There are 3 blues in the line of little coloured dots that show the various colours offered, and the far right one has a little x over it, presumably to indicate it is Blue Obsession.

Nice! And very different from the other blues offered.

Glenn.

Clever!

As a former mental health RN I'm ashamed I didn't think of it!!

No go. Both blue dots kick to the Blue Obssession pens.

Okay, I think I got it figured out. Blue (Ref. 1750135) is an older model that is described as dark blue or royal blue, i.e., purplish hue. It's probably an OOP model hence the lower price. Blue Obsession (Ref. 1904576) is the current model that is "truer" blue.

I just purchased a pen that was labeled "Blue Obssesion." The color is a slightly grey blue, lighter than my other Waterman, and a single color, not marbeled, or varied. The blue appears to have a hint of purple in it but is too blue and too light to be a royal blue. This pen looks like an Expert, but is slimmer. The bright chrome looks good, but it could have gold color, and be snazzier. Still, I can't complain, it's a nice writer, and the blue waterman cartridge looks good on paper. If you were to buy these pens with this color, it would make a nice addition to your pen collection.

Best,

Bobinsonoma

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
