Mont Blanc Heritage 1912

I have a Mont Blanc heritage 1912 and it will only hold app 9 drops of ink and take quite a bit of pressure on the nib to get the ink to flow. I returned it to Mont Blanc at there request. They sent it overseas for repairs, after they returned it to me, it still is doing the same thing. Has anyone else had this problem.

I have the Heritage 1912 with XF nib and it is my favorite MB. I do not have either of the issues that you described.

Did you return it via a MB Boutique? If so I would recommend taking the pen back and demonstrating the issue for their input.

Did you purchase the pen new? And if so has it done this from the start?

Mine does have a Broad Nib. I did purchase it from a Mont Blanc Dealer at a pen show. He told me to return it to Momt Blanc which is what I did. Yes it was new, and has the problems from the start. I have many other Mont Blanc's that do not have this issue.

Sounds like it may need to go back again unfortunately. I would maybe ask the store staff to operate it and see what they experience. This may be a stupid question but just covering all bases here... Are you pulling out the piston knob until it clicks before you fill it?

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

Mine holds very little ink compared to the 146 and 149 but nib wise its a very easy starter in writing and no skip, albeit slightly scratchy might need to work on that later..

Sorry to hear about your problems.

Mine is functioning well but also has a very small ink volume; always assumed this is due to the mechanical construction. Estimated volume is less than a small international cartridge.

Hope the mechanical problems are taken care of but I fear MB can't do anything about the ink volume.

Cheers

Michael

My new 1912 Heritage arrived last week. The piston filler sucked up no ink at all the first three attempts, then decided to cooperate and now fills fully, if modestly. The Medium nib, however, is a stop-go affair--when flowing, it's silky-gorgeous, but with significant skippage on any but absorbent type papers. It's off to Pendleton Brown tomorrow for his nib-fix artistry.

But you can still use it as a "Dip Pen".

Nine drops of Ink, is almost the same ink volume to saturate my 146 "modern plastic feed".

Warm Regards

Please excuse my poor english, but it is not my mothern language and maybe it is wrong my grammar. Any Suggestions are welcome.

It needs service. Send it back.

I suggest going through your dealer or boutique.

So sorry to hear you're having trouble with such a beautiful pen that should work wonderfully from the beginning.

Mine is a medium nib. I fell in love with it Day 1 and have not looked back. I hope you get yours repaired soon.

I have a XF nib , and is a gorgeous writer with a subtle soft writing experience

Very classy pen that reflects heritage in a successfull way.

Never had issues with this pen

The ink capacity of mine is about 10 drops.

I think your issue is the performance of the nib.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
