I may go and buy one tonight. Does anyone have any dealings with this model of pen, if not in ballpoint at least the pen design of the silver barley? Pros / cons? I love the design on the sterling silver cap and on the black resin. (#105223)

I have the Duoe Silver Barley in a 146 .... Great design.

Feels great in your fingers as the cuts in the resin body give you feedback. It makes a great anti slip design.

As light moves across the dark body the pattern appears and recedes.

I would think the bp version would be the same great look and feel.

Hope that helps,

Inked

I have the Barley 145 FP and love the pattern engraved on sterling cap and resin body. The elegant design perfectly matches my watch and you will not regret to have one, no matter it's a FP or BP.

I like both of these designs but I really like that Silver Barley much more. That eBay seller you're looking at has always had nice brand new Montblanc items. I almost think they have a store as an authorized retailer and sell overstock on eBay. However, you pay the price from an authorized retailer for an unwarranted product. So I would only do it if you can't find it elsewhere.

I am sure you will wind up getting both in the end hehe :)

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

So you guys feel the design is masculine, not feminine? I am getting a good price from a local dealer, not the MB Boutique.

The only MB pen designs that I have seen as feminine are in the "Diva" line. I think you're good with both of them!

Does the silver tarnish a lot? I assume all I have to do is just wipe it with a rag real quick. The store said they are giving me a MB cloth also. I am heading over there so, I will post pics here of what I get.

Hello, I'm new and just posted on newcomers, but the middle pen in my post picture has tarnished and it has many fine scratches on the metal, but I just leave it as is and use it.

I just got home. I purchased the Solitaire Doue Silver Barley Classique Ballpoint (105223). My local authorized dealer did not have the Black / White (101406) in stock so my choice was easy. I also took everyones opinion into consideration and I have to say the Silver Barley is beautiful.

Don't have to worry about the silver tarnish if you're using the pen. You only need to wipe it occasionally to make it more shiny and that Is one of the reasons I love sterling silver pen.

Good choice. I have the full silver barley 146 and I really like the chevron pattern of the silver.

I used the pen all day at my office. Love the weight and the grip of the barrel due to the design.

I had a Starwalker with the ribbed design on it and I do prefer the pens with texture!

I have the fountain pen in all sterling silver. It tarnishes very quickly if you dont use it regularly and the gaps between the chevrons go dark as its virtually impossible to polish there but it still remains beautiful looking. Enjoy

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
