Poem, Written In Light Italic

This example is the opposite of rapid, free, Italic handwriting, having been carefully planned and slowly written. After deciding on the general layout, letter style and size etc. the writing itself took me about one hour to execute. It was written with a Manuscript fountain pen fitted with a medium, edged nib. The x height is 10 nib widths which gives a very light, clean and airy look to the writing. I find this to be much more difficult to write than normal weighted Italic with the open aspect seeming to highlight every slight variation. Conventional Italic is more forgiving with deviation less obvious ...at least that's my experience. This is a reduction, the original size having been with minuscule height of 9mm. (10 nib widths).

I don't think that I've ever seen an italic script with an x-height of 10 nib-widths. That's really impressive, and most difficult. My hand starts to look like a mess whenever I creep above five nib-widths! Thanks for posting this.

Hmmm ... that's between two and three times my normal miniscule height. Lovely, Ken. Thanks,

Yours,
Randal

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?
