Excelent and reliable, and nor expensive. And btw very underated, we don't see it frequently mentioned here in fpn.

I agree! This has always been one of my favourites.

Unfortunately I snapped the feed in two while cleaning it, as the nib is friction fit and I couldn't get it in all the way. I don't think they sell feeds for it separately so there may be nothing I can realistically do for it :(

One fellow member here in fpn Cross forum is asking how to loose the nib in the Franklin Covey. Mine is working fine and sincerily I don't want to risk its nib trying to loosening it, perhaps you can share you latest experience about it. Btw mine has a jinhao thread feeder and it fited very tight and it is working wonderful. Try to look for other feeders no mater the trade mark.

I'll look into that, thank you very much! I was considering the Noodler's but I'll check out the Jinhao instead. I never damaged the nib pulling it out but I just had difficulty getting the feed back in properly. I will admit however, I was pressing the feed down on a countertop so it was partially my fault haha.

This is a very nice pen. I gave one to my mother for her birthday and she seems happy with it. I had one too but it jumped nib first on the floor...

i have two of these pens, love them, it was my first fountain pen and is a work horse. i was able to get my nib and section out with the help of a rubber sheet. if you look close the section that contains the nib and feed has a tab, put the tab on top of the nib and gently push in, never had a problem, and it looks like goulets nibs will fit the freemont so i cant wait to get another nib or two

Cheers

Bought this pen 3 weeks ago, filled it with Diamine turquoise and it instantly became one of my favourite writers. Smooth, pretty wet ink line. I love my others (FC Ambition and a few chinese Baoers, Heros), but the price/value is incredible, it works even on a (bleep) paper (FC dont, because of its F nib).

And I have it in a wine red finish, it is really a pleasant to see and write with.

... I believe in purple ink

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
