No Diamine At Nordic Pens!

Recommended Posts

Just had an email from Niklas to say that Nordic Pen Imports will no longer be stocking/selling Diamine Inks after this year. :(

I don't know about the rest of you but this is a big blow for me as NPI is my principal supplier at a price that I can actually afford.

Ah, that's too bad. All my 30mL Diamine inks are from him. Dirt cheap shipping too.

What's wrong with ordering either direct from Diamine in Liverpool or from Cult Pens?

No affiliation with either but a satisfied customer of both.

In a word, Shipping Costs.

Okay, that was two words. It's a special offer on words today! :D

EDIT: to give an idea of costs. Buying larger quantities narrows the price differential. However, for someone like me on very limited funds, buying in quantity is not really an option. NPI are marginally more expensive on bottle only prices but more than make up for it with comparatively low shipping fees.

1 x Diamine 30ml

NPI cost + shipping to New Zealand = 9.93 USD

Cult pens cost + shipping to New Zealand = 18.85 USD

5 x Diamine 30ml

NPI cost + shipping to New Zealand = 24.83 USD

Cult pens cost + shipping to New Zealand = 31.39 USD

Wait... what? Free shipping outside of the UK?

Let me go and check that...

Edit: ... checked. There is no free international shipping from Cult Pens for orders over 10 GBP

Shame on you, Diamine. That is as sad as Sailor refusing to let Goulet sell their inks without carrying their expensive pens. If only Noodler's could start selling cheap small bottles to small vendors...

I guess this is time to buy all Diamine inks I am still interested from Niklas.

Does anybody know a coupon code? I was waiting for December since Niklas promised to mail coupons for those that signed the newsletter.

I believe it's because his competitors complained about his prices to Diamine.

No one else sells it cheaper than Niklas, all-in.

In fact the loads of Diamine 30 ml ink bottles in my cabinet ALL came from Niklas.

He used to sell Aurora's inks relatively cheap too on his website's previous iteration.

I guess he chose not to be involved in the "cartel"...

Disappointing to hear that Diamine punishes free-marketeers. As a proud capitalist, I hope Diamine enjoys drinking all of their 150th anniversary flavors that I most certainly will not be buying.

Gentlemen/ladies, those are nasty accusations to other honest pen and ink vendors.

It is known that there are producers (be it pen, ink, or consumer electronics or whatever) who like to maintain a certain pricepoint, for whatever reasons. And there are "stories" abundant about these antics. But a cartel is is an agreement between competing firms to control prices or exclude entry of a new competitor in a market. (Wikipedia definition) Using that word points to other shops as active in criminal behaviour.

There is no proof whatsoever for this type of behaviour.

So an apology would be in order, I would say...

Just mooching round the diverse stationery websites known to me from experience I note that thejournalshop.com deduct 20% VAT for orders outside the EU and worldwide delivery for orders over £ 75 is free.

No affiliation

I agree with you whole-heartedly! I will boycott their ink as well. Niklas is a properly decent guy and I hope he gets a new line of ink to grow his store.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
