I bought a TWSBI exactly 16 months ago. I used the pen and because of an accident I broke the nib. I bought to an Italian shop a new one (Fine) but the new one didn't perform like the older. It seems less smooth and less wet writer. I would like to buy a new one to the official TWSBI store but I am not sure if I buy an exact copy o the one I already have.

 

I would like to ask: the new version of this nib is smoother or not than the previous one? I have the new nib version or the old one?

Although TWSBI is my favorite brand, I have to admit that TWSBI has some QC problems.

In very little chance you'll get a faulty nib...

The same nib will fit the 530 - 540 and 580 lines. The nibs in the 530s were Schmidts. The 540s and 580s and all but the first year of 700s use Jowo nibs. The Jowo nibs have been GREAT in my experience.

 

So, I'd order the nib directly from TWSBI.com where you will absolutely get a Jowo nib and not someone's left over stock.

I agree Jowo is the brand. Especially the Jowo 1.1mm stub. So smooth with character. GouletPen also sells TWSBI nibs with outstanding customer service. The Jowo stub came with me TWSBI 580 was not as smooth as the Goulet branded Jowo. It was also much dryer and skipped quite often. I finally had it and spent a little time tuning it. It is now very smooth and wet.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.
