Box Of Ink From Japan

Recommended Posts

Some of you may have seen the Iroshizuku Co-Razy Group Review. To keep on top of this, I knew I needed all the inks. The whole monthly format was, in fact, to make buying all the inks possible, as I can afford one a month...

Well... I figured out they'd cost half if I bought them all at once.

They arrived today:

Engeika had packed them really well, and shipped them along.

Each box was wrapped in bubble wrap, and had been opened to tuck some bubble wrap in to keep the bottles from sliding around. More bubble and some packing peanuts in the box to keep everything solid.

Today, eighteen inks arrived.

With the six I already had, that makes the whole set.

Yay!

Now I'm ready for the next two years! :)

(Half-price Iroshizuku: Order from http://www.engeika.com/ and order over $200 to get free shipping. It's about 15 bottles. They're $13.50 a bottle instead of $25-28. It'll take just under a month to arrive.)

... I might have enough ink now.

This may well be the best idea I've heard all year!

I think if I had the full set, I'd lose hours of my life just photographing them ... to document their beauty.

What a happy day for you! :)

Great job!

Wow! Now, the question, do you have enough pens to go with those inks?

If you have too many inks then you need more pens.

If you have too many pens then you need more inks.

That was my grandmas philosophy, although her version was:

If you have too much butterscotch sauce then you need more bread.

If you have too much bread then you need more butterscotch sauce.

And so the circle of life continues.

Hello Lou,

Well, it looks like you bought her out - I clicked on Pilot-Namiki inks and got a big goose-egg. I want to thank you for saving me all that money, I almost fell for this trap. :D (Although, I would not have bought each color - there are some I just do not care for).

Enjoy your big haul. :)

Best regards,

Chris

Shin-ryoku or chiku-rin green?

Nice collection Lou! I only have one, Fuyu Syogun, and I'm particularly fond of it. Hope you enjoy yours :)

Did you check ebay or the web site? The web store still has them all listed. See the Pilot Ink Category. Do note you must sign up for an account first, to see anything. You too can bask in inky delight. :)

Great job!

Not only that, I bought some Pilot Black, and Pilot Red at a local shop. I now have Pilot Black, Red, Blue, and Blue-Black, in addition to all the Iroshizukus.

LOL! Yes, that does seem to be the pattern, doesn't it?

I believe I have enough pens I could ink all of these at once. The problem is that so many of these are gorgeous shading inks, and so many of my pens are fine or medium, what with the misguided thought that those are what I'd want to write with. So, clearly I need more stubs.

I did pick up, at the same local shop as the ink, a Pilot Kakuno, just because the little smilie face on the nib is adorable.

Hello Lou,

This is where I went off the rails, I just visited the site, I didn't register. What a social faux pas! I'm so embarrassed.

Thanks,

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
