How Wet Can A Lamy Vista F Be?!?!

Hi to all! I have a Lamy Vista with a fine nib, and a Safari with the black extra fine nib. Both have the Z 24 cartridge and both are "running" with Skrip's Blue-Black ink; they're my everyday-everything-pens, and are used daily. The Safari can last at LEAST 2 weeks without refilling but the Vista... it goes down to MAYBE A WEEK!... Since I'm somewhat a newbie, I was wondering if this the normal experience with this nibs.

The EF nib will put down less ink than the F nib, so the ink load in the EF pen will last longer than the F pen.

Also the type of writing that you do affect how long you can go. To be comparable the writing has to be virtually identical. If you end up writing more on the week with the Vista, you cannot compare the duration.

And yes if your F is wet, or you press down on the pen, you will increase the ink flow and use more ink.

So yes, I would say normal behavior.

Thanks, AC! FWW, most of the writing is the same between weeks since it's standardized documents and records;I'm an Occupational Therapist. Also, I use the fountain pens to relieve pressure as not to affect my carpal tunnel, or finger joints as it somewhat glides on the paper ( I'm a lefty!). So, thanks again!!

If you want to extend the writing time of the Vista to be like your Safari, just replace the F nib with an EF nib.

I think the nibs are only $15.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
